PROMPT ENGINEERING

Prompt engineering is a crucial artificial intelligence engineering technique that involves refining prompts for generative AI models to enhance their accuracy and effectiveness. It entails structuring text or input that can be understood by AI models, guiding them on the specific task to perform. By adjusting and optimizing prompts, individuals or AI engineers can tailor the output of generative AI tools to better suit their needs, whether it's generating text, code, images, or other content types

Prompt Engineering 101:

The minimum three things that you need to receive required responses from your chatbot.

  1. Persona: Who are you? Characteristics, etc that would possibly effect your desired response.

  2. Audience: Who are you presenting this material to? Who will read, see, etc.? What age or education level?

  3. Output: Give specific instructions as to expectations. (Provide age or grade specific requirements if necessary). Be very specific in output requirements to get best results.

  1. Examples of Output:

    1. Provide list of resources pertaining to ##@@##

    2. What are the ramifications of ##@@##?

    3. Write a keynote presentation regarding ##@@##

    4. Who and why were ##@@## doing %%$$%%?

    5. What is the meaning of the Parable of the Sower?

    6. How does the Old Testament play into Jesus' answer to the Pharisees?

    7. What other Scripture(s) does the Sermon on the Mount remind us of?

    8. Why do the Pharisees ask Jesus why He is eating with sinners?

    9. Why do the Pharisees and Sadducees not get along? And why do they ultimately team up?

As you can see, the Persona is answered in the customization. Also, most of the Audience is generally answered. The age or education level can be addressed in the Output request. For instance, you can ask for a response at the 10th grade level, as I often do, so most anyone can understand it. Answers from AI systems often give responses quite confusing or hard to understand.
